Ingredients
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 can / 400 g whole canned tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
fresh basil
salt
sugar
black pepper
Instructions
1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil in a saucepan for a couple of minutes.
2. Pour canned tomatoes with their liquid into the saucepan. Add tomato paste. Stir and simmer gently for 20-30 minutes.
3. If you want a smooth sauce, blend with an immersion blender. Season with fresh basil, salt, sugar, and black pepper.
